Bersyn shows what each one actually said in a given market. ## What Bersyn Measures For one product category, in one country and one language, Bersyn asks a fixed set of realistic buyer questions and records, per AI surface: - **Named in** — whether the company's name (or a registered alias) appears in the recorded answer. Presence only. It implies no endorsement. - **Recommended** — whether the surface put the company forward as an answer to a buying question. Narrower than being named: a company can be named as a competitor, a caveat or an example without being recommended. - **Searched** — whether the surface performed a web retrieval while answering. - **Cited** — which domains the surface referenced. These are four separate observations. They are reported separately and are never treated as interchangeable. ## How Bersyn Measures It - **Buyer questions.** A fixed pack written for one category and one market, in that market's language. The pack is the instrument. - **AI surfaces.** ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini and Perplexity, each at a recorded model version. Results are kept apart, because the surfaces disagree. - **Repeats.** Each question is asked several times on each surface, so a single answer is not mistaken for a fact. - **Recorded answers.** Every answer is retained in full, with its cited domains, its search flag and its model version. The recorded answers are the denominator of every count. - **Buyer market.** Country plus language. Two markets are two measurements and are never combined. - **Repeated measurement.** A market can be measured again later. Two dated results are shown side by side. A worked example: twelve buyer questions, four AI surfaces, three repeats each — 144 recorded answers for one category in one market. ## What Bersyn Does Not Claim This section is as important as the one above it. - **No score.** Bersyn does not produce a 0–10 number, a composite, a grade or an index. - **No rank.** Bersyn does not order companies against each other. - **No share.** Bersyn does not publish a percentage of recommendations. - **No trend.** Bersyn has not defined what counts as a real change versus model variation, so it does not draw a trend line. - **No causation.** Bersyn can show where a company is absent and in what buyer situation. It cannot prove why a model answered as it did, and it never claims that searching the web caused or failed to cause a recommendation. - **No universal claim about "AI".** Bersyn observes four named surfaces under a stated measurement design. It does not describe what "AI" thinks in general. - **No claim that one market represents another.** A result measured in Iceland says nothing about the United States. ## What A Customer Learns - How often each AI surface named them, with the denominator attached. - How much the surfaces disagree with each other. - Which buyer situations they are absent from. - Which companies were named in their place. - Which domains the assistants cited. - When it happens: a measured zero — which is a result, not missing data. ## Category AI recommendation measurement. Adjacent to the market others call Generative Engine Optimization (GEO) or AI visibility tooling. Where those tools summarise a brand into a single rated number, Bersyn reports recorded answers and counts per surface. ## Availability Bersyn is rebuilding its measurement.
